The Waste Watcher Observatory 's Living Waste-Free Award (Premio Vivere a Spreco Zero) was established in 2012 to promote concrete and virtuous actions aimed at combating food, water, and energy waste; preventing waste production; encouraging sustainable mobility; reducing land consumption; fostering the efficient use of natural resources; and promoting food education and sustainability.
The Award is dedicated to innovative actions and projects that can potentially be replicated in other contexts. The good practices identified and shared—implemented across the national territory by public and private entities—represent significant and innovative experiences, and it is important to encourage their dissemination and replication. The Award aligns with Goal 12.3 of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with the aim of promoting good practices among all stakeholders in the food supply chain.
The 2025 edition raises the level of attention toward the 2030 goals: the focus of the Award will be on assessing the progress still needed to approach the targets set by the United Nations Agenda. Good practices for everyone, therefore, because we are all called upon to take part in the obstacle race toward achieving the sustainability goals of the 2030 Agenda. Reaching the finish line in time means identifying and replicating, every day, effective and innovative actions and projects potentially centered on waste reduction and the efficient use of resources, as also encouraged by the Commission.
